INTRODUCTION MT-SHIFT

Welcome to the specimen showcase for MT-SHIFT, a concept font that breathes life into motion typography. The typeface offers a unique blend of technical sophistication and visual engagement, pushing the boundaries of traditional variable fonts while maintaining all technical aspects within the font file. This font was created to rethink and expand the possibilities of animated typography.

BEHIND THE CURTAIN

The magic lies in the combination of the OpenType features Ligatures and Variable Font. To make this possible, a ligature for every start and end combination is necessary, resulting in a total of 6000+ individually calculated ligatures. The animation is then controlled via the Variable Font property "Morph".

To change the letter "A" into "B," you have to type "AB," so the "A_B.liga" will get activated. By setting "Morph" from 0 (for A) to 100 (at the end of the transition to B), the animation is executed.
Therefore, to change the word "H E L L O" into "W O R L D," type "H W E O L R L L O D ".
